Annual Gala & Thanksgiving Celebration
Honoring: Heather & Neal Zuckerman 2022 Historic Family of Philipstown Award

Cocktails and silent auction begin at 5:00 pm. Dinner and celebratory holiday program & entertainment to follow. Cocktail attire. RSVP by Thursday, November 10th

Meet our honorees:

Heather has followed in the footsteps of her parents, Ed & Lynda Vrooman, who served on local boards for decades. Lynda, who passed away in 2021, was a former president of the PHM.

Heather and Neal recently funded the creation of the PHM Community Room in Lynda’s name. Heather has served on the Constitution Island Association Board and was part of the founding of the Young Associates program at the museum. Since getting her master’s in social work, she has worked at St. Basil’s Academy and the Philipstown Hub to help young adults.

Neal served as the President of the PHM from 2008-2010, after serving as board Secretary and Vice-President. He has also worked throughout the county as a Trustee of the Desmond-Fish Public Library, Chair of the Philipstown Planning Board, and the Putnam County representative to the MTA Board. Neal also serves on the Board of Directors of National Public Radio in Washington DC.

“We believe that the only way to be in a community is to be involved. Service is not something you choose to do. It is something you must do,” said Neal. Heather added, “We only hope that our efforts over the years, starting with my parents and continued by us, have added in a small way to the special nature of this town that we call home.” Together they hope their two daughters, Madeline and Lily, raised in Garrison, will continue that legacy for a 3rd generation.
