DESCRIPTION:Join us during Climate Week NYC for a special talk by environmental artist Selva Ozelli on her “Healing Hudson” art show at the Putnam History Museum. Selva will explore the history of the environmental movement, highlighting past and present climate-related laws, and initiative worldwide, and their impacts on artists today. She will feature the works of several environmental artists throughout the talk. \nThe history of the environmental movement is deeply connected to the fight to save local Storm King Mountain in the 1960s, which sparked the American Environmental Movement and set legal precedents for environmental protection. In addition to Selva’s talk, PHM Staff will also provide a brief history of this pivotal fight.\nBring a bagged lunch to museum or tune in online on World Maritime Day, September 26th, to explore the ways that the movement that began here in the Hudson Valley has inspired artists all around the world.\nClimate Week (9/22-9/29) is also the final week of the “Healing Hudson” installation, so be sure to see it before it closes!\nThis event is free.
