DESCRIPTION:We invite you to dive into local culture and history with the PHM’s History-a-thon Challenge, designed to inspire exploration, curiosity, and adventure during the final weeks of winter – all while raising critical funds for the Putnam History Museum. Our goal is to raise $2,500 in March through this inaugural event.\nPrompt Examples:\n\nStop to read a historic marker.\nListen to music made before 1940.\nVisit a local museum or historical society.\nEat at a historic Hudson Valley restaurant or make a historic recipe.\nCelebrate Women’s History Month.\nWalk a historic trail, park, or street.\nAttend a talk on local history & heritage.\nThink like a historian by finding an object of personal historical importance.\n\nDonating to the Challenge offers you exclusive weekly prompts, opportunities to win prizes, and the satisfaction of knowing that you are playing a vital role in raising crucial funds for the museum. Your support is greatly appreciated!\nHow it works:\nStep 1: Register below!\n\nIn addition to the Challenge Packet ( https://www.putnamhistorymuseum.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/PHM-2024-History-A-Thon-Challenge-Packet.pdf ), registered participants receive:\n\nWeekly encouragement emails, recommending specific activities and ideas to fulfill Challenge goals. This will include engaging prompts – specific to Putnam County & the Hudson Valley, but adaptable for any hometown or city.\nPrizes for:\n\nSpecific donor levels\nParticipation\nSee the prizes listed below!\n\n\n\n\n\nStep 2: Get out and explore, March 1st-31st.\n\nParticipants are encouraged to complete one activity per week.\nParticipants must complete at least four activities in the month to claim their prize.\nWhile we recommend starting the challenge March 1st, you can sign-up at any time throughout the month!
