“Old Fashioned” Salon Series on Saturday, October 14

Putnam History Museum is excited to announce our next Salon Series, Old Fashioned: A History of Drinking Establishments and Gathering Places in Beacon and Cold Spring. Join us on Saturday, October 14 at 5pm for an evening with Diane Lapis of the Beacon Historical Society! Our Salon Series offers guests a unique opportunity to socialize, learn about history, and experience our local bounty in an intimate setting.

Tickets are $45 per person and include Diane’s presentation, an Old Fashioned recipe tasting, cocktails, and light hors d’oeuvres. Tickets may be purchased via Eventbrite or at the door.

Diane Lapis has collected postcards for the past thirty years and revels in unveiling the hidden stories behind each image. She loves to travel and visit historic places, especially old bars and cocktail lounges. Diane is a trustee at the Beacon Historical Society where she researches, writes, and presents topics on local history. Her book, with coauthor Anne Peck-Davis, Cocktails Across America: A Postcard View of Cocktail Culture in Post-Prohibition America will be published by Countryman Press/W.W. Norton & Company in May 2018.
